About the Artist

Carole Chalmers,  the daughter of an artist , began painting  at a very early age and completed her first portrait at the age of 13.   Throughout her youth Carole was aware of the majesty in landscape and developed the desire to express through art the magnificence of God's awesome creation.  A creative homelife and excellent early education provided opportunities for artistic exploration.  In college at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, Carole found academic teachers in the late 60's still willing to focus on the importance of realistic representation.  Then at the Atlanta School of Art at the High Museum in Atlanta, Ga she continued to stretch her artistic vision with "a faculty of wonderful artists and instructors who encouraged us to reach higher for artistic standards and ceativity."    Subsequently ,  Carole studied in New York at the Art Students League where she was influenced by some of the great painters of our time.  She continues to enjoy occasional trips to New York and France to sharpen her skills.

Carole lives in a  small Georgia town with her husband, Jim, and her dog, Murphy, where  she works and teaches in her home studio.  Carole and Jim, have four
children and five grandchildren.
